Course Code: T&L 2900, Integrating G-Suite in Learning
This blended course is designed for the beginner/intermediate technology user who has been introduced to the power of Google apps, but desires more guided practice with a goal of higher proficiency. It promotes independence as it accelerates learners beyond the basics of G-Suite apps such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Sites, Slides, Forms, and YouTube while enhancing creativity, collaboration, and communication through the SAMR model. Participants will delve into personalized learning experiences and engage with peer partners to gain confidence as they integrate G-Suite into the daily practices of their professional roles with colleagues, students, and school community.
In this blended course, students will meet face-to-face six times for 3 hours and experience a hands-on approach to utilizing Google Apps. Throughout these six face-to-face modules, students will engage in hands-on learning, group sharing of ideas, and small breakout sessions that offer differentiation of learning styles.
Students will also engage in 4.5 hours of online work which includes course readings, reflective responses with a peer partner, and professional discussions in response to a group book study using Schoology, our course learning management system. Students will also spend time creating 5 mini projects and a culminating final project during the course. Schoology provides a flipped version of the face-to-face version complete with video tutorials for extra remediation or extensions.
Recommended Prerequisite: Completion of an Introduction to G-Suite for Education (formerly called Google Apps for Education) or have a basic understanding of the G-Suite apps.
