Media Productions with iPads

This intermediate iPad course is designed to help classroom teachers integrate multimedia productions in their classroom. With the underlying principles of Project Based Learning, teachers will be able to redefine their classroom projects immediately while “hacking” their assessments. Participants will learn how to teach students to author their very own multimedia presentations and broadcast them to parents, schools, and other outside communities. As part of this course, participants will receive an iPad Multimedia kit to build a small classroom studio to help start creating high-quality video and audio immediately. This kit will include a green screen, microphone(s), and an iPad tripod.

As a prerequisite to this course, participants should have an iPad (iPad Air 2, Mini 2,3, or 4, or iPad Pros) and have a basic understanding of iPad features, settings, and functions.

This blended course will take place in both an online setting with discussions on the book Hacking Project Based Learning by Ross Cooper through our LMS, Schoology, as well as six face to face sessions (four in the summer) with a hands-on interactive approach. There is 3 ½ hours of online work per week. Participants will be actively engaged in creating these useful presentations for their classroom during the face to face sessions.

3D Printing in the Classroom

This introductory course is designed for elementary and secondary teachers who are looking to infuse design principles into regular educational learning. Teachers will captivate student interest through basic 3D design and prototyping whereas these concepts can be applied to any subject area.

From initial set-up to classroom integration, Learners will learn how to integrate higher-order thinking skills, where prototyped designs connect to real-world learning. Learners will learn how to operate and troubleshoot a 3D printer and design engaging and practical hands-on projects that are suitable for use with elementary and secondary students in STEAM and PA Core-aligned curricula.

Learners will also learn how to find, download, remix, and print items ranging from simple products to mechanical gears. Learners will use free 3D modeling CAD software to create, share, publish and print their own custom designs. Empowering Learners with iPads

Registrants will receive a brand new Logitech Crayon Digital Pencil.

This 3-credit intermediate iPad course is designed for classroom teachers to explore, practice and create content as it applies to the K-12 classroom. This course is designed for the beginner / intermediate iPad user who has some individual fluency with iPads but who strives to empower students to utilize iPads in highly creative and innovative ways. It promotes student-centered learning through a station rotation model and will challenge learners to engage with iPad apps such as Notes, Pages, Keynote, Clips, iMovie, as well as others. Course projects will challenge participants to rethink student learning and redesign student activities that promote student choice, creativity, collaboration, and communication all through the lens of SAMR, TPACK, and digital citizenship.

In this blended course, students will meet for six face-to-face modules, scheduling can vary, and experience what it's like to teach with iPads in instruction. Throughout these six face-to-face modules, students will engage in hands-on learning, group sharing of ideas, and small breakout sessions that offer differentiation of learning styles.

Students will also engage in 3.5 hours of online work per week which includes course readings, reflective responses and collaborative sharing of ideas through one of our course learning management systems, Schoology. Students will create one product for each learning module that has practical meaning to classroom instruction.

Teaching & Learning with iPads

This introductory iPad course is designed for classroom teachers to explore, practice and create content as it applies to the K-12 classroom. From basic management of the iPad to content creation, learners will develop an understanding how the iPad can transform teaching and learning and place students at the center of the process. Students will create movies, publish interactive books, create screencasts and presentations, and learn how to use the iPad to develop formative assessments. In doing so, Students will connect the content with pedagogical practices such as the SAMR model, where the iPad immerses students in the learning process.

These six learning modules will connect to the four domains of Danielson's Framework such as: planning and preparation, classroom environment, Instruction, and professional responsibilities.  Participants will document evidence of their work through online discussions, reflective journaling, and product creation.
